Pharmacognostic and Taxonomic Studies of the Leaf of Ageratum houstonianum Mill. (Compositae)

Ageratum houstonianum occurs as a common agricultural weed, it is managed in small and large cropping situation by tillage can contribute to soil fertility waste mulch. The aim of this study was employ the pharmacognostic taxonomic parameters evaluate leaves houstonianum. were collected, identified, air dried, pulverized subjected microscopy, micromeritics, chemomicroscopy, fluorescence, soluble-extractive values, moisture content ash values using standard procedures. result obtained from microscopy showed an irregular epidermal cell shape sinuous anticlinal wall pattern, anomocytic type stomata, double armed trichome amphistomatic stomatal distribution on both abaxial adaxial surfaces. index for surface 11.6% 25.6%.The micromeritic evaluation powdered leaf revealed Carr’s 25.23%, Hausner’s ratio 1.33 angle repose 38.8o indicating poor flow. chemomicroscopy presence oils, protein, lignin, mucilage calcium oxalate crystals.
